Stay at Lemala Kuria Hills Lodge
Lemala Kuria Hills lodge offers unrivalled luxury and sophistication, where you can choose to either relax in style or enjoy the Northern Serengeti’s excellent game viewing (without the crowds) with our superb guides in open 4x4 vehicles. Large granite boulders and kopjes are the prominent feature of Lemala Kuria Hills, and each of the 15 spacious, glass-fronted tented suites has been discreetly set amongst the giant rocks to ensure maximum privacy and spectacular views from the open decks. Each suite has an elegant and contemporary design, with comfortable, modern interiors enhanced by authentic African touches. The public areas are dominated by magnificent kopjes, and guests can enjoy the broad views of the grasslands from the bar, sitting and dining areas and swimming pool.
There are several dining options at the lodge or out in the bush, and delicious meals include a choice of starters, main courses, desserts and house drinks. Afternoon tea is served before your game drive, and cocktails at sunset are taken on one of the kopjes with distant views of the Isuria Escarpment in the Maasai Mara. The Melengali Spa is in a separate tent where you can indulge in massages and manicures in a peaceful, natural setting
Accommodation at Lemala Kuria Hills Lodge
This permanent lodge boasts modern glass-fronted bedrooms looking out onto a private deck. Each room also comes equipped with a private plunge pool which is a rarity on safari. The bathrooms are appointed to a very high standard, as are the rooms.
Lemala Kuria Hills is beautifully situated, with the majority of rooms having a rare and remarkable view over the Serengeti sunset. With the Mara River only a half an hour game drive away, river crossings can be expected from mid-July to mid-November. During this season, drives are taken in modern Land Cruisers that have the security of the roof but are not closed-sided.
The Lodge does not have the understated style of more traditional camps but provides a comfortable experience for honeymooners for example - the size of rooms, bathrooms, infinity pools are the quintessence of luxury at an affordable price.
Experience Lemala Kuria Hills Lodge
The camp's main area comprises two permanent tented structures on different levels, both raised clear of the hillside. In the first tent is a spacious lounge, decorated in a modern style, with sofas and chairs in neutral colours and rugs scattered on polished wooden floors. Contemporary chandeliers, hanging from the tented ceiling, complete the look. Fireplaces at each end of the lounge provide cosy meeting places for guests on chilly evenings and there is a substantial bar at one end and when we last visited in October 2019 we could easily imagine whiling away an evening here swapping safari stories.
Accessed from the lounge by a wooden walkway, the dining area is furnished in the same clean and modern style, with lots of dark wood and neutral cream colours. Individual dining tables are covered with white tablecloths and surrounded by high-backed chairs. On one side of the area there's another fireplace decorated with African artefacts.
Lemala Kuria Hills has a lovely private spa area a short walk from the central area. Massages, manicures and pedicures are offered in an open-fronted room looking over the bush where buffalo frequently wander. A glistening swimming pool affords welcome respite from the afternoon heat. Set beneath a high rocky outcrop that attracts birds and rock hyrax it has decking on three sides dotted with sunloungers and umbrellas, and it also has its own changing room and toilet.
