8 Days Migration Experience
Over two million herbivores participate in the largest mass movement of land mammals on the planet as they migrate in an endless cycle in search of fresh grazing – closely followed by Africa’s big cats. The iconic Great Migration is the most thrilling and evocative wildlife spectacle imaginable.
Day 1-4: Rekero Camp, Masai Mara
Your adventure begins right from camp, which is perched in a prime position above the mighty Talek River. Every year this is the scene of high drama as life and death battles are enacted before your eyes as wildebeest and zebra ford the river on their inexorable journey in search of sweet grass and new pastures. Lying in wait are hordes of Nile crocodiles, and following them closely are the big cats – all waiting to pick off the weak or unwary.
Day 5-7: Lamai Camp, Serengeti
This area of rolling grasslands and tree-lined watercourses is the hub around which the Serengeti migration circulates. The herds mass on the banks of the Mara River, braving the crocs when they cross. Even the resident game here is spectacular. Plains game – zebra, topi, gazelles, impala, buffalo and giraffe – frequent the area throughout the year, meaning that lion are close by and leopard, ever present but always elusive, stalk the rocky kopjes and river lines.
