Perched on the edge of the Kuka Hills, &Beyond Klein’s Camp boasts magnificent views of an exclusive wilderness concession that borders the vast Serengeti plains.
The stone interiors of the guest areas open up to breathtaking panoramas, with open fireplaces to keep the chill away. Fresh vegetables picked from the camp’s shamba, or organic African garden, are used to create wholesome dishes. Dinners are served in the main dining area, which is graced by a large open fireplace.
The camp is ideal for family safaris, where guests can take advantage of the Klein’s family suite and little one’s can learn about their surrounds with the camp’s fun-filled WILDChild programme.
Accommodation at &Beyond Klein's Camp
Klein's Camp is a comfortable and traditional safari lodge located deep in the heart of the Maasai land in Tanzania. The ten spacious cottages overlook a game-rich private concession in north eastern Serengeti.
Set just below the crest of the Kuka Hills, Klein’s Camp overlooks the vital corridor linking the Serengeti and the Maasai Mara. Twice a year, the valleys below are filled with a jostling throng of zebra and wildebeest.
With just 10 thatched stone cottages, Klein’s Camp provides an experience that is both personal and intimate. Whitewashed walls and rich wooden floors, combined with soft cream furnishings, create a calm and soothing refuge from the adventures of the day. Inspired by the breathtaking natural backdrop, relax on your private veranda with a pair of binoculars.
The camp has a large beautifully furnished open-sided bar/sitting area with a central fireplace, just a short walk from the dining room, both with sweeping views of the valley and surrounding hills. There is a swimming pool and deck tucked into the hillside and the Safari Shop stocks locally made Maasai crafts. There is also wifi access in the main area and by the curio shop.
Experience &Beyond Klein's Camp
Highly trained guides and Maasai trackers will do their very utmost to delight guests with a choice of activities including twice daily game drives - exploring the endless plains of the Serengeti on early morning and late afternoon / evening game drives in an open 4x4 safari vehicles. Bush walks - in between morning and afternoon game drives explore the African bush on a leisurely walk in the surrounds of the Camp, accompanied by an armed guide and Masaai tracker.
Klein's Camp is not really suited to very small children and therefore only accepts children over the age of 6. Those children aged 6 to 12 years are allowed to partake in game drives at the guide’s discretion. By doing this Klein's camp can entertain children enthusiastic for the natural world, whilst also ensuring that guests without children equally enjoy the peace and beauty of their surroundings. Child minding and babysitting can be arranged for those that require it.
The Grumeti River starts its life as a small stream in the hills of southern Kenya just across the border from Klein’s Camp. A thin strip of dense riverine forest is home to the reclusive bushbuck and the rarely seen bushpig, as well as the more frequently encountered elephant and buffalo. Although the huge crocodiles for which the Grumeti is famous do not occur this far up the river, small numbers of hippo inhabit the nearby pools. The woodlands are good areas for browsing animals such as giraffe, impala, elephant and dik-dik. The acacias attract Grant’s gazelle, olive baboon, vervet monkey, and bushbabies. Birds are especially abundant in woodlands, which offer a wide choice of safe nesting sites.
