The camp is situated on a by-water of the Grumeti River, known for its dramatic wildebeest crossings and enormous Nile crocodiles. Tucked into a strip of riverine forest, guests thrill to the antics of the resident hippo in the tranquil pool in front of the camp and the spectacular pied colobus monkeys, found nowhere else in the Serengeti.

Meals can be enjoyed on an extensive deck with beautiful views towards the river, while the dining area opens up to a traditional African boma, where dinner is served beneath a billion stars. Traditional fires known as jikos and outdoor ovens produce mouth-watering aromas, while the sounds of the African night provide a gentle backdrop to tales of the day’s safaris.

Intimate guest areas include open-fronted sitting and dining areas, as well as a domed bar, all adorned with beaded artefacts. The spacious decks are perfect for enjoying sundowners overlooking the river and the camp’s rim-flow swimming pool provides a view of the hippo-filled river below.

Accommodation is in 10 flamboyant tents tucked under shady palm thatched roofs. Each of the spacious tents has a furnished deck and ensuite bathroom with hand basin, separate shower open to the stars and separate w.c. There is an overhead fan and the local sculptured furnishings and vibrant decor bring alive the excitement and romance of Africa.

The guest areas of this intimate camp include open-fronted sitting and dining areas, a lounge area and domed bar. The interior design is colourful and funky with unusual beaded artefacts. The spacious decks are perfect for sundowners overlooking the river. A dramatic boma ensures star-studded romantic dinners. The camp has a rim-flow pool perched on the banks of the river where guests can view hippo at play. The Safari Shop is located at the entrance of the camp.

A vibrant and playful décor theme runs through the lodge, where a large central building houses the lounge, dining and bar areas. Thatch, wood and stone are artfully blended to create a seamless transition from the outdoor wilderness to the comfortable interiors. The colourful and inviting lounge flows out onto a viewing deck overlooking the water where playful hippos frolic. The swimming pool alongside is the perfect spot for a refreshing dip during lazy afternoons watching the local wildlife passing by, and an amply-stocked gift shop provides you the chance to pick up a memento or two.

With an emphasis on wholesome and healthy fare, meals feature a variety of freshly-prepared delights, like fresh-fruit platters and piping hot waffles. From the ‘wake-up’ coffee service and pre-game drive breakfast buffet to exciting picnics out in the wild or light lunches on the terrace, every mealtime is a treat. Delicious African-inspired dinners are often cooked over an open fire or in special safari ovens, served alfresco below the stars or in the intimate boma area.

The luxury lodge is split into a main area and the tented accommodation area along the Grumeti River. The tented accommodation is split into 10 luxury en suite tents raised on wooden platforms along the bank of the river.

The main area of the lodge is very open and well kept with a small lawn going down towards the river where there are always a few resident hippos cooling off in the water. There is a ‘boma’ where evening meals and taken as well as a large pizza oven.

The Migration normally passes through this area from Late May to early July, the herds do cross the Grumeti River however its is important to note this is not the spectacular river crossings, these happen later in the year in the North of the Serengeti in the Kogatende area. Serengeti Safari is only special here for a small window every year.

Game driving is the main game activity at Grumeti Serengeti within the Serengeti National Park in &beyond open sided vehicles on a shared basis.
