Stay at &Beyond Bateleur Camp
This romantic and totally private camp reflects the ambiance of Kenyan safaris of the ‘20s and ‘30s and is situated below the scenic location where the famous final scene of the movie Out of Africa was filmed. Adventures at &Beyond Bateleur Camp include twice-daily game drives, including spot-lit night drives. The camp also offers a range of additional activities such as bush walks, hot air balloon safaris and community excursions that include soul-tickling interactions with the Maasai.
Guest areas bring in the vast open spaces, adding a touch of vintage safari elegance. Intriguing antiques, hand-crafted artefacts and keepsakes of bygone times mingle with cushy sofas and polished leather chairs. Shiny brass compasses, leather trunks and framed maps bring a poignant reminder of old world travellers on a similar journey, while bookshelves of bound tomes entertain and inform. The warm glow of torches and candles welcome you home from your evening drive. Fine china, crystal and silver sparkle in the torchlight as the aromas of delicious meals waft on the breeze.
At &Beyond Bateleur Camp
&Beyond Bateleur Camp comprises just two intimate camps of nine tented suites each, set among the forests on the edge of the Masai Mara.
The tented suites boast an easy, classical elegance, with polished wooden floors and ensuite bathrooms with stone-walled showers. Each tent has its own deck overlooking the vast game-filled plains of the Masai Mara and a personal butler ensures that every need is catered for. Beautifully handcrafted artefacts, fine antiques, leather buttoned Chesterfield sofas, books, crystal and candlelight adorn the comfortable sitting and dining areas, transporting guests back to the heyday of classical safari.
A deep, refreshing lap pool provides cool comfort. Delicious meals are served in memorable setting beneath the stars, followed by fireside port and cigars. Bush breakfasts and romantic sundowners on the edge of the Rift Valley offer an unforgettable African experience.

Blessed with an astounding year-round concentration of animals and site of the Great Migration for a few months every year, the Masai Mara National Reserve provides an unsurpassed wildlife experience. Known as the “spotted land” to the Maasai, it is a land of breathtaking vistas, abundant wildlife and rolling hills dotted with shukka-draped Maasai. The reserve is a photographer’s paradise, with abundant elephant, buffalo, giraffe, lion and cheetah alongside the migratory wildebeest and zebra. Leopard are frequently encountered, endangered black rhino find sanctuary in dense thickets and the Mara River is home to large rafts of hippo and some of Africa’s largest crocodiles. Six species of primates and over 450 types of birds add to the Mara’s incredible natural diversity. The Masai Mara is part of a huge conservation area that also includes the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in neighbouring Tanzania.
