Angama Amboseli
An intimate lodge in the heart of Kimana Sanctuary, Kenya’s first community-owned conservancy, renowned for its lush landscape and remarkable density of wildlife — along with its famed backdrop, Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. Set within a Fever Tree forest where some of Africa’s last Super Tuskers roam — elephants with tusks so large they drag along the ground as they walk — Angama Amboseli is a gentle start or finish to any East African safari.
With just 10 Guest Suites in a private wildlife conservancy, Angama Amboseli is respite from the world. A haven for the prolific elephant population in this ecosystem, get up close to the relaxed resident herds and their calves as they saunter through the Sanctuary just as you do. The rough texture found on the exterior of the buildings is also a gift from the elephants — their dung, mixed with concrete.
Game drives through Amboseli National Park are a feast for the eyes and lenses. Have your camera and binos at the ready as you take in the scenes around you — with the iconic dry lake bed and dusty salt pans contrasted by the bountiful wetlands, large herds of elephants in procession and the majestic presence of Mount Kilimanjaro watching over it all.

Things to do at Angama Amboseli
Kimana Sanctuary is a true wildlife haven with superlative numbers of antelope, giraffe, zebra and wildebeest, as well as the more elusive leopard, cheetah and serval. It's most famous for the huge herds of elephant, however, and remains one of the last strongholds of Africa's Super Tuskers, elephants whose tusks weigh more than 45 kgs each and often drag along the ground. Angama Amboseli enjoys unrestricted game drives where other vehicles are a rare sighting and the schedule is completely flexible.
